There are some people who seem to have life all figured out. They seem to have a game plan for everything. They have a clear direction for their career, retirement, life-style, relationship, family and faith. They know exactly what they want out of life, and seem to respond well to adversity. Then there are others who are so busy trying to survive the day-to-day grind, until they have spent their entire lives to present, not even knowing who they really are, or better yet, why they were born.
Have you ever questioned your purpose in life? Have you ever fantasized about what you want to be or what you could’ve been? Do you feel like you‘ve settled because you’re frustrated and stuck? If this is you, know this, you’re not alone. The truth is, most people are in survival mode - seeking fulfillment and a better life. Very few people have it all figured out. Don’t let Hollywood fool you, money can’t buy true love, happiness, and fulfillment. Behind the glitz and glamour, there are drug and alcohol addictions, infidelity, misery, and for some, loneliness. So what is it? What is the meaning to your life? What is it that defines you?
Would you believe me if I told you, that all of the answers to your life’s questions are locked within you? Very few people take the time to really get to know themselves. Some who are frustrated with life have a tendency to either blame others for what they didn’t or can’t achieve, or they have a really negative view of themselves.
Over the years I’ve help many people find the key to unlock the answers within themselves. The foundation for a happy, successful, and fulfilled life is not built on how much money you have, or the possessions it can buy. It’s not built on how many friends you have, or how popular you are. It is built on a fundamental understanding of who you are. If you don’t know who you are, and if you don't know your full potential and limitations, then it’s hard to determine your destination.
The people I’ve met that live a balanced life all share some things in common:
They finally answered the questions they’ve asked themselves for years; What makes me happy? Why am I here? Why am I stuck? If money was not an issue, what would life look like for me? - And the list goes on.
They set realistic and measurable goals, with a plan to achieve those goals.
They realized that they are where they are based on the sum of their life’s decisions. In other words, they’ve come to own their failures - only as fuel for their success. They don’t blame others.
They set their minds past their obstacles, and visualize their ideal success.
They established healthy boundaries around themselves, using a powerful tool found in their vocabulary - the word “NO.”
They’ve rid themselves of self defeating thoughts and actions, and adopted a positive self affirming attitude.
They have surrounded themselves with positive and supportive people and limited or eliminated their interaction with toxic people.
Last but not least. Most balanced people I know (notice I didn't say "successful" people) have a practicing belief in God. Their belief in God allows them to trust in their relationship with Him, and in His divine providence. Their relationship with God consists (fundamentally, though not necessarily exclusively) of daily prayer and meditation.
It’s an awesome thing to lead someone to self discovery. When God breathed the breath of life into mankind, in that breath was purpose and destiny. Once you come to the realization of the presence of God, and acknowledge Him, He will direct your path (Proverbs 3:6). Follow the path God put you on, and that path will lead you to your true “Born Identity.”
